HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A family dispute turned deadly in northeast Harris County on Wednesday night, leaving one man dead and another hospitalized, deputies said.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said a 78-year-old man shot his 49-year-old stepson multiple times after an argument between four relatives escalated into a physical fight.
Deputies said the stepson’s 80-year-old mother and a 30-year-old man were also involved in the fight.
The shooting happened inside a garage in the 13400 block of Ryan Ridge Lane and may have stemmed from an argument over a door being left open, investigators said.
Deputies said the dispute began between the elderly couple before the two younger men stepped in. The 30-year-old man was taken to a hospital with injuries related to the fight.
The 78-year-old man was detained at the scene. Deputies said it’s unclear if charges will be filed.
