Disney magic took center stage at Destination D23, where fans gathered from all over, and a few Broadway stars brought an extra dose of enchantment to the celebration.
Among the special guests was a real Disney princess: Susan Egan, the original Belle from Broadway’s “Beauty and the Beast.” She was joined by Michael James Scott (“Aladdin”) and Daniel Gardner, who plays Lumiere in the new North American tour of “Beauty and the Beast.”
The trio shared the stage for performances and stories, celebrating the musical’s 30th anniversary and their deep connection to the show.
“I fell in love with the character of Lumiere,” Gardner told On The Red Carpet. “Now to be playing him for the 30th anniversary is just amazing, and to share the stage with Susan and all these amazing people — I’m fangirling.”
Scott spoke about the joy of meeting fans and the impact performers have beyond the stage.
“As artists, when we’re coming out to meet them, whether we’re performing or whatever it is, I think we all take it very seriously because we know it means a lot to them and to us,” he said.
