FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A lengthy construction project is entering a new phase in Fort Bend County.
Work continues at the busy intersection of US 90A and the Grand Parkway. TxDOT has scheduled overnight closures in the area for the next six weeks.
TxDOT is building a US 90A bridge, which will allow traffic to flow freely east and west at Grand Parkway, instead of getting caught up at the intersection.
In order to set bridge beams, construction crews will conduct nightly closures on US 90A eastbound and westbound between Cunningham Creek Boulevard and Ellis Creek Boulevard of all mainlanes and the frontage roads, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly until Oct. 24th, not including Sundays.
Traffic will detour through the main corridors of New Territory. US 59 to the south is also an alternate route. This is all part of a $47 million plan to ease congestion between Sugar Land and Richmond through Fort Bend County.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
