Soloist and choreographer Jacquelyn Long joined Eyewitness News live Thursday morning to talk more about the latest performance.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston Ballet is fusing rock and roll with ballet in a program that blends beloved music with movement and emotion. Soloist and choreographer Jacquelyn Long joined Eyewitness News live to preview “Rock, Roll & Tutus”. She’s both a soloist and a choreographer for Houston Ballet.
The performance comprises of four diverse pieces. Long choreographed Illuminate, set to music by Oliver Davis. She said her inspiration came from thinking about the way people become inspired. She listened to the music and said that she began to see movements in her head.
The piece entitled Rooster is set to popular songs by The Rolling Stones. It’s described as “fast-paced, lighthearted work with just a bit of bite.”
Long said that the diversity of the numbers presented on stage ensures that everyone will leave having seen and experienced something they enjoyed. “Rock, Roll & Tutus” hits the stage at The Wortham Center through Sept. 28.
