From upcoming attractions, to celebrity interviews and all the magic, “20/20” celebrates 70 years of Disneyland in new special

LOS ANGELES — In a special edition of “20/20,” ABC News Studios pulls back the curtain to reveal the magic of Disneyland as it celebrates 70 years of happiness in “The Happiest Story on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland.”

For seven decades, Disneyland has created millions of magical memories for families from all around the world. On The Red Carpet spoke with ABC News entertainment correspondent Chris Connelly, who is featured in the special, to discuss all the details.

“You’ll get to go inside the mind of Walt Disney – as he has this amazing dream and wants to make sure that his park is different from every other park in the world,” Connelly said.

In the special, you’ll hear from some of Disney’s biggest fans, including Jon Favreau, Josh Gad, Julie Andrews and more.

“There’s a memory I wanted to share with you. Well, there are two. Well, there are three. Well, there are probably 1500,” Jamie Lee Curtis jokes in the trailer.

Walt Disney famously said that “Disneyland will never be completed,” and the special delves right into that idea.

Connelly teased, “Disneyland is never finished. It’s never completed. There’s always a way to do something new, and you’ll get an early peek at some of the most exciting new attractions that are coming to Disneyland.”

And what is it about Disneyland that has preserved the magic for all these years?

“It’s remained true to Walt Disney’s vision – as a place of wonder and magic, as a place of surprise and delight, as a place that generates memories and keeps you coming back – That’s what’s always made Disneyland special.”

“The Happiest Story on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland – Special Edition of 20/20” airs September 21 at 8/7c on ABC and streams the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
