3 people hurt after police vehicle crashes into driver, apartment building in southwest Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Three people were taken to the hospital after a police cruiser collided with another vehicle and careened into an apartment building in southwest Houston, the Houston Police Department said.

HPD says the crash occurred in the 10100 block of South Gessner Road just after 11 p.m. on Saturday.

According to Sgt. Rebecca Dallas of the Vehicular Crimes Division, preliminary information indicated a driver in a gray sedan was traveling southbound on Gessner. The officer, who was responding to a call, was heading northbound.

During an attempted left turn, the sedan crashed into the police vehicle, causing it to go through a gate and into the Braeburn Terrace Apartments, police said.

HPD says both the passenger and the driver of the police vehicle were taken to the hospital, along with the driver of the sedan. All of them had minor injuries.

Investigators said they are working to determine whether the driver of the sedan was impaired.
