HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A former Houston Police Department captain, whose arrest on child sex and pornography charges earlier this year shocked the department, was arrested again Friday morning by FBI agents.
Daryn Edwards, a 32-year HPD veteran before he retired in March, was taken into custody at the Galveston County Courthouse by agents assigned to the bureau’s Texas City office, the FBI confirmed.
Edwards, 59, was scheduled for a ‘disposition conference’ on the state charges of child pornography, sexual assault, sexual performance of a child, and sex abuse of a child.
A federal indictment, returned on November 18 and unsealed Friday, shows he now faces 5 additional charges, including exploitation of children, coercion, enticement and possession of child pornography.
He was set to face a magistrate in federal court on Friday afternoon.
League City police first charged Edwards in February. At the time, investigators told ABC13 they had accounted for and interviewed the victim in the case.
