13 Alert Traffic: 2 total freeway closures among traffic backups happening this weekend


HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Texas Department of Transportation says Houston drivers can expect two total freeway closures this weekend.

I-69 Southwest Freeway

On the Southwest Freeway, all northbound lanes from Bellaire Boulevard to Chimney Rock will be shut down until 5 a.m. on Monday.

As a detour, drivers can take the exit ramp to Chimney Rock and enter the I-69 northbound lanes through the entrance ramp from Chimney Rock.

Additionally, the northbound entrance ramp from Westpark Tollway will be closed until Monday at 5 a.m.

I-45 Gulf Freeway

On the Gulf Freeway, all southbound lanes from Tellepsen to Wayside will be closed until 5 a.m. on Sunday. You can take the frontage road and use the next available entrance ramp to access I-45.

Then on Saturday, the northbound lanes along the same stretch will close at 5 p.m. TxDOT says they’ll reopen by Monday morning.

I-610 East Loop

The East Loop northbound lanes from Market Street to I-10 East and the East Loop connector ramp to I-10 East will both be closed until 5 a.m. Monday.

Traffic will continue on I-610 northbound exit at Wallisville. Drivers can U-turn back to I-610 southbound and take the I-10 direct connectors.
