CONROE, Texas (KTRK) — A pastor and two other suspects were arrested after he was accused of helping them hide a car linked to a deadly hit-and-run crash, according to the Conroe Police Department.
Conroe police said the crash happened on Nov. 9 in the 200 block of North Loop 336 East. Investigators believe a vehicle hit a pedestrian and did not stop to help.
In a Monday update, police identified the pedestrian who died as Brett Wilborn, 46. Officers said he was hit first by an SUV that left the scene, then by a second vehicle whose driver stayed and called 911.
Officials said their investigation led them to the home of the suspected driver and passenger. There, they found a 2017 burgundy Chevrolet Suburban in a closed garage.
CPD identified the driver as Stephen Santeli Castro, 35, and the passenger as Angelica Flores, 61. Both were arrested on Friday.
Castro was charged with failing to stop and render aid, and Flores was charged with failing to report a felony, CPD said.
Investigators also identified Juan Murillo Wilson, 34, who is the pastor of Castro and Flores, as someone who helped hide the Suburban. They say he was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence on Monday.
Conroe police offered their condolences to Brett Wilborn’s family and friends and said the investigation is still ongoing.
