HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead inside a vehicle in northwest Harris County.
Aerial images from SkyEye showed what appeared to be law enforcement vehicles surrounding a car at the scene.
Deputies said they responded to the 16000 block of West Road on New Year’s Eve and found a man unresponsive inside a vehicle.
The man, possibly in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Sgt. Sidney Miller said early findings suggest the victim was approached by an unknown man in a hoodie before an altercation.
Miller said the victim was possibly shot several times before the man in the hoodie left the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office said a second man might have been involved, as there were reports of someone taking something from the victim’s vehicle right after the shooting.
Miller said investigators believe the suspects fled the scene on foot.
Deputies said they are searching the area and looking for surveillance video to help with the investigation.
The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information to call their Homicide Division at 713-274-9100 or contact Crime Stoppers.
