HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a 2026 homicide.
Detectives said around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, a man’s girlfriend found him dead outside their apartment.
“He was discovered this morning about 6 a.m. on the front porch of his apartment by his girlfriend who lives at the apartment, she did not hear anything, any disturbances or anything like that, she just discovered him this morning on the porch,” said Sgt. Greg Pinkins with HCSO.
Pinkins said the 43-year-old victim left the apartment around 1:30 a.m. before he was found dead.
Investigators said they are still working to learn what led up to the shooting and who the shooter may be.
While homicide detectives continue their investigation, data shows homicides were down in 2025, compared to 2024.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety data, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigated 88 homicides through November of last year.
In 2024 through November, there were 113 homicide offenses, and 123 for the entire year of 2024.
