HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Two family members were rushed to the hospital after a shooting in northwest Harris County, according to authorities.
Harris County Precinct 4 deputies said they responded to a shooting incident in the 4500 block of El Salvador Drive on Friday afternoon.
According to authorities, one adult and one child suffered gunshot wounds from the shooting.
Officials also said the two people were family members, but did not specify the relationship.
When they arrived on the scene, officials said deputies immediately applied tourniquets to the two victims until medical staff arrived and took them to a nearby hospital.
Officials said the two people are cooperating with investigators.
Precinct 4 said that it is still investigating the shooting.
Editor’s note: Precinct 4 authorities initially reported Friday afternoon that the shooting was accidental and between two 16-year-olds. In an update on Friday evening, officials corrected the initial findings, clarifying that the victims were one adult and one child. Authorities are no longer calling the shooting accidental.
