“One Battle After Another” takes victory lap at National Board of Review Awards in NYC

MANHATTAN — Some of the biggest names in Hollywood were in New York City on Tuesday night for the National Board of Review Gala.

Hosted at Cipriani on 42nd Street in Manhattan, it’s one of several awards shows leading up to the Oscars.

“One battle after another” won best film and Leonardo DiCaprio won best actor.

Ryan Coogler took home the prize for best original screenplay for “Sinners.”

He’s emerging as an Oscar frontrunner and spoke to entertainment reporter Joelle Garguilo alongside his creative writing teacher.

“For me the reward has been all of it. Just getting the script done was a type of reward, my crew together was a type of reward, getting everybody to come to New Orleans, getting to share the screenplay, I shared it with Rosemary like I always do, getting good feedback from her. And then showing the movie to audiences, which is the biggest reward I could ask for,” Coogler said.

Voting for Oscar nominations started on Monday.

The Ocars air on Sunday, March 15 on ABC.
