HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Deputies are continuing their investigation into a double murder after they say a husband and a wife were found dead in a west Harris County home on Monday.
According to the medical examiner’s office, one of the victims was shot in the face, and the other was shot twice in the head.
There’s still no one in custody as of Wednesday evening, according to investigators.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that just before 6 a.m. on Monday morning, they went to a home on Bent Springs Lane near Clay Road and the Grand Parkway for a shooting.
Originally, the sheriff’s office said they didn’t know if this was a murder-suicide or a double homicide, but in an update, confirmed that investigators believe the couple was murdered.
The victims have been identified as a couple, Christopher and Trinette Lopez.
Investigators said the couple’s two adult children and their 7-year-old foster child were in the home at the time and were woken up by gunshots, but said they were not injured.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is still ongoing, and detectives are still interviewing witnesses.
Child Protective Services confirms the 7-year-old is now in “safe placement.”
