HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Drivers were experiencing major delays on the Katy Freeway due to an 18-wheeler catching on fire Thursday morning.
Houston TranStar verified the incident just before 9 a.m., stating that the main lanes and exit ramp were affected on IH-10 Katy Westbound at Blalock Road and Echo Lane.
Lanes have since reopened, but traffic cameras showed when plumes of smoke were coming from the big rig, which appeared to be carrying large cargo.
It’s unclear what led to the fire or what precisely the 18-wheeler was transporting.
