HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Several arrests were made after multiple agencies raided Las Potrancas Bar & Hookah over complaints about drugs and after-hours alcohol sales, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
The operation was a coordinated effort between the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, HCSO said. According to deputies, they responded to the bar early Friday morning following several complaints of after-hours alcohol and narcotics sales and possible human trafficking.
Capt. Mike Santos with the HCSO said the bar operated from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. and sold alcohol during that time.
“This is a community impact type of operation,” Santos said. “It’s extremely dangerous because at 7 a.m. we have kids going to the bus stop, people going to work, and we have people leaving an establishment (who have) been drinking all night…so this is a coordinated effort to knock this place down.”
Officials say at least three individuals were arrested for various crimes, some of whom had outstanding warrants, and that the establishment will be thoroughly investigated following numerous complaints. They added that deputies had previously responded to the bar for various fights.

Santos added that, while he didn’t have specific information on whether the bar was linked to the multiple fatalities Veterans Memorial Drive often sees, he said all the bars along that road could be a contributing factor. He urged the public to report any suspicious activity as part of an ongoing effort to prevent establishments from breaking the rules.
“In this day and age, there should be no DWIs,” Santos said.
Officials say this is just one of several crackdowns in an ongoing Harris County operation to ensure bars are in compliance.
