Backstage reactions from Riley Green, Cody Johnson and Red Clay Strays after CMA Awards wins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The CMA Awards rolled out the star power once again, shining a spotlight on the biggest names in country music.

This year delivered its share of standout victories with Lainey Wilson, taking away the most wins including the biggest award of the night, entertainer of the year.

On The Red Carpet caught up with some of the winners backstage as the celebrations kicked into high gear.

Cody Johnson picked up male vocalist of the year and used his moment to praise fellow nominee Chris Stapleton.

“He is one of the best vocalists of all time in any genre,” Johnson said. “The man can sing any kind of music whatsoever and still make you get weak in the knees, because that’s what it does to me.”

The Red Clay Strays took home vocal group of the year, ending Old Dominion’s record-breaking run of seven wins.

Riley Green took home three CMA Awards: Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, and Single of the Year for his duet with Ella Langley, “You Look Like You Love Me.”
He told On The Red Carpet his plans to celebrate at his Nashville bar, The Duck Blind.

“I’ll probably go over there, have a couple of drinks and hang out with everybody,” he said.

“It’s obviously great to be able to perform at these awards, and just getting to come to these is fun, so being able to leave with a little bit of hardware makes it even better.”
