Ben Affleck, Matt Damon recount the Red Sox’s haunted history in ESPN Original documentary, ‘Believers: Boston Red Sox’


LOS ANGELES — Calling all Red Sox fans!

On Friday, ESPN announced its newest ESPN Original series, “Believers: Boston Red Sox.”

ESPN Originals takes fans into the biggest moments and stories in sports, this time, focusing on “the Boston Red Sox’s haunted history and chronicles decades of heartbreak, myth and near-misses, culminating in the 2004 championship that redefined what it meant to believe.”

The three-part series includes appearances and commentary from stars Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Katie Nolan, Bill Burr, Donnie Wahlberg, Uzo Aduba, Sam Jay, Maria Menounos, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Neil deGrasse Tyson, along with members of the 2004 Red Sox roster, including Johnny Damon, Curt Schilling, David Ortiz, Kevin Millar and Bronson Arroyo.

“Believers” focuses on “Boston’s improbable 2004 postseason run through the lens of the franchise’s complex history and the city’s passionate culture, capturing the defining moments when belief and extraordinary talent finally rewarded the city’s long-suffering faithful.”

“Believers: Boston Red Sox” is streaming on the ESPN App for subscribers to an ESPN Unlimited plan.

It’s directed by Gotham Chopra and Lauren Fisher, executive produced by Ben Affleck, and produced by Religion of Sports and Artists Equity.
