HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Nearly three months after a deadly northeast Houston shooting, police said they do not have any suspects charged right now.
Now, a woman who says her brother was murdered is speaking to ABC13 about how she wants him remembered.
“I didn’t want to think the worst of it, so I was like, okay, a leg shot, an arm shot, something like that. That’s what was just going through my mind the whole way, then when we got there, it was just like no,” Sa’miyah Hamilton said.
It was what she says was her worst nightmare. Sa’miyah Hamilton recalls the moment she learned her 18-year-old brother, Brodrick Hamilton, was shot and killed.
“Honestly, it’s been hard. Everybody walks around and is still like, ‘BJ, BJ, BJ,'” Sa’miyah said.
Houston police say the deadly shooting happened on June 9th near Crosstimbers and Curry Road.
Investigators said they learned an altercation led to two men exchanging gunfire, and they say one left the scene.
“Very frustrating, very very frustrating,” Hamilton said.
Sa’miyah said they were only 11 months apart and did everything together until now.
“He was goofy, and he loved, loved, loved kids, and he loved his mama, a lot and his siblings, we all argued a lot, but we all had a bond that was indescribable,” Sa’miyah said.
As police said they do not have anyone charged in the shooting right now, Sa’miyah says she wants someone held accountable.
“I feel like justice needs to be served, like honestly. I don’t feel like nobody should walk away with what they’ve done at all. You can’t get away – well I feel like you can’t get away with murder. It’s not okay for anyone to get away with murder,” Sa’miyah said.
She said she will continue spreading the word until someone is held accountable, as the investigation is ongoing.
