FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has named the three family members who died in a Saturday morning wrong-way crash.
According to law enforcement, around 2 a.m. on Saturday, four family members were in a white GMC heading northbound on the Grand Parkway just past FM-1464 when a wrong-way driver hit them head-on.
Investigators revealed on Monday that 27-year-old Lizbeth Rodriguez Contreras, 26-year-old Diego Pena Jr, and 5-year-old Camila Pena all died as a result of the crash, leaving an unnamed 3-year-old as the sole survivor.
The three-year-old was flown to the hospital, where they are reportedly still critically injured, but are currently stabilized, according to officials.

The 28-year-old driver of the wrong-way Audi was also flown to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. The name of the driver has yet to be released as law enforcement said an investigation into whether alcohol played a factor is ongoing, and potential charges are pending.
At this time, the sheriff’s office has not stated where the Audi driver entered the Grand Parkway or how long they were driving in the wrong direction.
In December of last year, a multi-agency task force, including the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, was started to crack down on dangerous driving along the Grand Parkway. On Monday, the FBCSO said the task force is run by Harris County.
ABC13 is waiting to hear back from Harris County for an update on the task force’s work over the last year.
