HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The top player in Texas and currently the #2 overall recruit in the nation, quarterback Keisean Henderson of Legacy The School of Sport Sciences took the field Friday night for the final time in a high school football uniform.
Legacy hosted Cornerstone Christian at Husky Stadium on the campus of Houston Christian University, and Henderson did not disappoint. He threw a touchdown pass and ran for a score in the 1st half to give the Titans a 12-7 halftime lead.
Henderson opened the second half with an 80-yard touchdown run, putting a few Cornerstone defenders in the spin cycle.
Legacy won their final game of the season 28-16 as Henderdon closed his senior year. He’s looking forward to enrolling at the University of Houston in January to play for his city.
“It’s the last 48, final 48,” Henderson said, referring to the number of minutes left to play in his high school career. “I liked to have fun practices where we always competed together, talking back and forth to each other. Kinda like the guys come in, we’re together, and that’s a real brotherhood. I’m going to miss those moments,” he said.
You don’t meet many like Keisean. His talent on the field is very clear. He’s thrown for over 3,400 yards in 43 TDs and added almost 800 yards and eight more scores on the ground this year.

MEET KEISEAN HENDERSON
Keisean Henderson is the #1 player in Texas and was named as the top #2 recruit in the United States
“He’s a perfect example of a little engine that could because there are so many distractions that could have turned him the other direction, and he kept his eyes focused on the prize,” Legacy Head Coach Michael Bishop said.
Bishop is fully aware of what talent looks like. He was an accomplished player, winning 2 JUCO national titles at Blinn College, going on to Kansas State, and was a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 1998, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2023.
“I’m just excited to witness what can be greatness,” Bishop said. “I truly believe that he’s going to be one of those guys that will have a great college career, and I’m sure, the play on Sundays.”
He could have committed to play anywhere in the nation next year. He earned over 40 offers. He decided in May 2024 that he would play for Head Coach Willie Fritz at the University of Houston next season. He wanted to stay home and make his city and family proud.
“I think about it every night, especially just playing on that red and white and rocking out and just having the time of my life playing college football,” Henderson said.
“Also, just being able to go get my education and just make my mom proud,” he said.
It’s been fun to watch Keisean work the crowd at Cougars games this season. He talks to everyone, shakes their hand -the old and the young -with a smile.
“In the household I grew up in, everybody just always taught me to be myself and keep that smile on my face and just have fun whenever I do and just make sure I’m joyful with what I’m doing,” Henderson said.
