HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Houston Police Department is investigating a deadly pedestrian crash that happened two days before Christmas.
Police say on Tuesday evening, a black GMC Yukon was traveling northbound at 1300 North Wayside when the driver hit a cyclist in the intersection.
Preliminary information shows that the cyclist didn’t yield the right of way when crossing the intersection.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, officials say.
According to HPD, the driver was a 38-year-old woman. She stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, they added.
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, but officials confirmed that the cyclist was a 45-year-old man.
