Harris County Pct. 1 deputy constables say they’re looking for man who’s preying on women at Shepherd Park in north Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Law enforcement are looking for a man they say is preying on women at a park in north Houston.

Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen says they’re investigating two reports of a man allegedly grabbing women and trying to pull them into bushes at Shepherd Park, not far from North Shepherd Drive in the Oak Forest neighborhood.

ABC13 spoke to a few women who say they frequently visit this park. They say they’re being more cautious and avoiding going there alone. They tell us it’s scary to think this is happening right in their neighborhood.

“It’s really scary because this is supposed to be a walkable community,” neighbor Laurie Roussel said.

Rosen says they have a very vague description of the man and don’t feel comfortable releasing it.

“That’s too close to home,” Oak Forest neighbor Kaitlin Cuevas said.

Pct. 1 deputy constables say they believe it’s the same man trying to prey on women in this community.

The constable said that on Wednesday and Thursday mornings of this week, the man tried to pull two different women into an area with brush at Shepherd Park.

A man is wanted after allegedly causing a woman to miscarry after attacking her and touching four women inappropriately at several parks, police say.

“Find him. Get him out of here. Don’t let him hurt anybody else, whether it’s in this neighborhood or any other neighborhood,” Cuevas said.

Deputy constables say when the man tried to pull the woman into the brush on Thursday, people nearby chased the man down until losing sight of him.

“Anytime somebody that’s willing to attack somebody in the open, broad daylight, there’s a real cause for concern,” Rosen said.

Officials say the woman was able to get away on Wednesday after shouting for help by screaming “fire” to draw the quick attention of others.

“Obviously, this person is brazen, and I can tell my message to him is, ‘We’re going to catch you. You better stay away from this park and stay away from trying to harm anybody,'” Rosen said.

Law enforcement needs your help. If you have any information about this situation, you’re urged to call the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office.
