Harris Health is asking the community to submit questions and comments regarding the acquisition of part of Hermann Park before two upcoming town hall meetings.
After Harris County commissioners asked for more transparency in the hospital district’s efforts to condemn a portion of Hermann Park to expand Ben Taub Hospital, Harris Health will soon host two town halls to discuss the matter with the public.
The two town halls are the first of four public meetings that Harris County commissioners demanded Harris Health hold before voting to acquire the land via eminent domain.
Harris Health says the town hall meetings are a “great opportunity to hear about the proposed plans and why this expansion is necessary.”
Dates and times for the two town halls, announced through Harris Health’s social media, are below:
Nov. 12, 2025 – Commissioner Rodney Ellis Administration Building & Community Center (2787 El Camino Street, Houston, TX 77054) at 6:45 p.m.
Nov. 17, 2025 – George H.W. Bush Community Center (6827 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, TX 77379) at 6:45 p.m.
In addition to the town halls, commissioners asked the hospital district to open an internet portal to be more transparent to the public about why condemning the park is the only way to expand Ben Taub.
Originally requested by Harris Health for Dec. 11, the vote to condemn the land was rescheduled to March of next year.
