ANDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A Houston Police Department officer was killed in a car crash in Anderson County on Wednesday, according to law enforcement.
According to HPD, Senior Police Officer Alex Roberts was conducting a traffic escort on his motorcycle when he was hit by another vehicle at 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
“Senior Police Officer Roberts faithfully served the Houston Police Department with honor and dedication. His loss is felt deeply within our department and the community he proudly served,” HPD Police Chief J. Noe Diaz Jr. said.
Roberts was assigned to the traffic enforcement division, solo motorcycle detail, and was sworn as an officer in November 2010, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
