HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Investigators have confirmed that two suspects who led police on a chase in east Harris County on Friday evening were wanted in the murder of a 62-year-old Lyft driver out of Louisiana.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana said that they received a call about a woman in a ditch on Friday. Once deputies arrived, the victim had been found with a gunshot wound to the head. Officials identified the woman as Lawanna J. Lewis from Lake Charles.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Investigators discovered that she was a rideshare driver working that day and issued an alert on her car after realizing it was missing and had been stolen.

Later that evening, the woman’s car had been located in the Houston area, prompting officials to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with HCSO located the car at a Walmart near Wallisville Road. When they approached, two men, identified as 23-year-old Ethan Bush and 26-year-old Tristan Bush, were inside the vehicle and then fled the scene on foot.

At one point, the younger of the two suspects jumped onto the beltway before being hit and killed. He was later pronounced dead, officials said.

The second suspect was later arrested after being found in a backyard, according to HCSO.

Further investigation revealed additional evidence that linked both suspects to the murder. Officials said Tristan is awaiting extradition back to Louisiana and is charged with second-degree murder, but more charges are pending.
