HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A murder charge has been filed against a man for allegedly killing his girlfriend and hiding her body in Houston earlier this month, according to court documents.
Court documents state that Jesus Varela, 48, shot Christelrose Ramirez multiple times on Dec. 1. According to court documents, Varela forced his nephew to help him put Ramirez’s body into four bags and sealed it inside a barrel. Varela allegedly dumped the body near the intersection of Highway 249 and Ella.
Varela was previously charged with tampering with a corpse, assault of a family member and unlawful restraint, according to documents.

Court records state that Varela is due back in court on Monday.
