Liberty County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal shooting after man opens fire on patrons at Alas Locas bar in Cleveland

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — One person is dead and several others were injured when a man opened fire at a Liberty County bar early Sunday, according to officials.

Deputies with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. at Alas Locas near Cleveland.

Officials stated that the suspect arrived at the bar around midnight and ordered a drink. Deputies spoke with someone who works at the bar and noted that the man is not a regular at the establishment.

The suspect stayed at the bar for about an hour and then left to go to his van, then came back to the patio area and opened fire on patrons, LCSO said.

According to Meyers, two of the five injured were taken to hospitals by helicopter and are listed in critical condition.

Officials said the suspect is believed to have acted alone and fled the scene in a vehicle described as a full-size white van with no windows that had a long scratch on the side.

Six people were shot, with one man being pronounced dead at the scene, and two were taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter.

Officials said they are going to review the surveillance footage of the shooting before releasing any additional details about the suspect.
