HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — It started with two friends playing what appeared to be a game and ended with one of them dead and the other charged with killing him.
“We are in a situation here where this is a real danger to the community because the defendant gets intoxicated and uses weapons irresponsibly,” a Harris County judge said.
Sean O’Donnell is now behind bars after he was accused of shooting his friend inside his home in this Spring neighborhood on Aug.17.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the two took turns shooting at each other while one wore a helmet.
“The defendant and his friend were playing with guns. They were drinking. They were shooting at a kevlar helmet,” the judge said.
That’s when the judge says the victim was shot.
“They were holding it above their heads until the complainant ended up with a bullet hole in the top of his head,” the judge said.
The sheriff’s office says he was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
During his court appearance, O’Donnell was also accused of trying to cover up the incident.
“The defendant is alleged to have told the police that he shot himself but there are witnesses who have video that the defendant and complainant sent of that them playing with the gun and shooting with the helmet back and forth and these friends told them to stop,” the judge said.
As of now, he’s still behind bars, and his bail has been set at $3,000.
