HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — In September 2025, crime scene tape wrapped around the Standard at Champions apartment complex off of FM 1960. Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators were trying to piece together how the body of 20-year-old Troy Styles ended up there fatally shot.
Nearly two months later, officials announced the arrest of 22-year-old Desean Roberts.
Roberts was already in jail on an unrelated forgery charge, in which he’s accused of having multiple $100 bills, when authorities charged him with killing Styles.
The sheriff’s office said Styles’ mother was the one who found his body after tracking his cellphone to the apartment complex. They said she called 911, and Styles was pronounced dead on the scene.
At the time, the sheriff’s office told ABC13 they weren’t sure if Styles was shot at the complex or if his body was dumped there after being shot at another location, because there weren’t shell casings at the scene.
Even with this murder charge now filed, law enforcement said the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office homicide unit.
