Man shot after road rage incident in west Harris County, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A driver was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after deputies said he was pulled over for running a red light. During that traffic stop, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said they saw the man had been shot.

The sheriff’s office believed the shooting happened during a road rage incident around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, following an altercation between two vehicles.

“Subjects were involved in a minor fender bender. They pulled over in a parking lot at which time somebody displayed a firearm and shots were fired,” HCSO Sgt. Wade said.

A box truck and a white car were at the center of the road rage investigation. The HCSO said it took place near Clay and Greenhouse Road.

Authorities found out about this shooting after a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop for running a red light.

“A subject exited the vehicle with a gunshot wound,” Sgt. Wade said.

The sheriff’s office said people in both vehicles fired shots. A driver in the box truck was hit in the arm, according to officials.

All of that was caught on camera. Authorities said they’re reviewing surveillance video to piece together the moments leading up to this.

“Right now, we have all of the individuals detained, and we’re investigating for potential charges,” Sgt. Wade said.

On Saturday morning, the sheriff’s office said the person taken to the hospital was in stable condition.
