SUGAR LAND, Texas (KTRK) — Investigators in Sugar Land are looking into a home health care worker accused of hitting a 4-year-old boy with autism.
The child’s mom is speaking only on 13 about what she says happened, and shows ABC13 the surveillance video of the situation.
Andrea Clark says she’s a hardworking mother of six children. Clark says she trusts the 24-hour home health care workers at her home, who are caring for her sick 4-year-old son.
She says what she never imagined was watching her home surveillance video and seeing her night nurse hurt her son.
In the video, you’ll see Only on 13, Andrea Clark says her 4-year-old son’s night nurse is seen being rough with her son, and then you hear a slap. ABC13 blurred this video because it appears to show a child being abused.
“Sick. Angry. Furious. So many things were going through my mind,” Clark said.
“I’m sorry will never be good enough for what she put my son through. I don’t think this is the first time that she abused my son,” Clark said.
Clark says 4-year-old Bobby needs 24-hour nursing care because he takes more than a dozen medications and has a feeding tube.
She says Bobby’s heart isn’t fully developed, and he was recently diagnosed with autism.
“I couldn’t pinpoint it, but there were times he had a bruise on his face,” Clark said.
She says she had just gotten home from her own nursing shift, checked her home cameras, and says she saw her night nurse hit her son in real time.
Clark says she stepped in, grabbed her son, and told the night nurse to leave immediately.
“I hope that she never works with children again,” Clark said. “It makes me feel angry, not only with her but with myself for not noticing.”
Sugar Land police are looking into this situation and told ABC13 it’s an ongoing investigation.
Eyewitness News is not naming the nurse or the company that hires them because no one has been charged.
ABC13 reached out to the company, and they have not answered our questions.
