HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A sedan’s driver died after deputies said an Amazon 18-wheeler ran a red light in south Harris County.
Deputies said the crash happened around 11 p.m. Friday on the feeder road off Highway 288 at the South Beltway.
According to investigators, the Amazon driver told deputies he had a yellow light when he crossed the intersection. However, after reviewing the truck’s dash camera, deputies said they determined the light was red the entire time.
HCSO said the sedan’s driver, described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the Amazon driver did not show signs of intoxication and has not been charged at this time.
ABC13 reached out to Amazon and has not yet heard back.
