MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS (KTRK) — Two sisters in Montgomery County are behind bars, accused of abusing a 12-year-old girl since March.
Detectives at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office say the sisters are charged with hitting the child and restraining her.
Detectives say all of this unfolded at the home of Brenda Garcia, the older sister. She is also charged with invasive visual recording for allegedly taking nude photos of the child.
Both Tania and Brenda Garcia have bonds of $200 thousand.
Sheriff’s office investigators say the 12-year-old was hit with belts, cords, and sticks. Investigators also say she was tied up, cut with scissors, and choked at a home on Goodman Road in Montgomery County.
According to court documents that detail months of abuse, the child told detectives Brenda choked her until she couldn’t breathe and wrapped a belt around her neck, telling the victim to just die.
Detectives say the victim’s biological mother lives in another country and was staying with an uncle in Houston. The victim says that the uncle had been sexually assaulting her.
Deputies say the child sought help from Brenda Garcia, whose daughter knows the child’s uncle.
Garcia reportedly took the child to live at her home with her sister, Tania Garcia, in March. That’s when court documents say the sisters began abusing the child.
Investigators say the child got out of her restraints and escaped the home on Sept. 30, where she was found with a large infected gash on her head and injuries all over her body.
Deputies say CPS was involved, but when they were looking for the 12-year-old, Brenda told CPS the child moved back to Honduras with her mother.
Detectives interviewed Brenda, and documents say she denies wrongdoing and says the victim is manufacturing the allegations of abuse.
ABC13 is working to find out more about the child’s uncle. It’s unclear if charges have been filed against him.
“Regarding any further arrests, the investigation is ongoing, and we cannot provide anything further right now to protect the integrity of the case,” a District Attorney’s office representative in Montgomery County said.
