Stand Up for Heroes features performances from Jim Gaffigan, Idina Menzel and Leslie Odom at NYC’s Lincoln Center

NEW YOR CITY — Monday night was filled with laughs and heart to raise money for veterans and their families.

The 19th annual Stand Up for Heroes event was held at New York City’s Lincoln Center as part of the New York Comedy Festival.

It featured performances by comedians and musicians, including Jim Gaffigan, Idina Menzel, Lea Michele, Leslie Odom, Jon Stewart and more.

“Anything where we can kind of contribute in some small way to acknowledge and maybe assist helping veterans and their families is a no brainer,” Gaffigan said.

The event spotlights inspiring stories of resilience and service, and raises awareness and money for the foundation started by our colleague at ABC, Bob Woodruff.

The foundation’s mission is to help veterans, service members and their families.

“For these guys to come in and do some comedy on the topic that we deal with all the time, it’s like a form of therapy,” Woodruff said.

Stand Up for Heroes has raised more than $100 million to date for veterans and military families.
