KATY, Texas (KTRK) — A Brinks armored vehicle driver was making a routine pickup when two armed thieves approached, forced him to the ground, and stole cash, a Harris County Sheriff’s Office official said.
The incident occurred in Katy, in the parking lot of an H Mart store located off Colonial Parkway and Grand Parkway, on Saturday at approximately 8 a.m., according to the HCSO.
Detective Ryan Hilz with the HCSO Violent Crimes Unit said the armored vehicle driver was returning to his truck after picking up cash from the store when two men approached. He added that the men wore black hoodies and ski masks while brandishing AR-style rifles.
HCSO said they located a getaway car, a Hyundai sedan possibly linked to the robbery, at a nearby hotel off Barker Cypress Road. Investigators took custody of the vehicle and are working to determine whether it was stolen.
HCSO stated that no one is in custody and the robbery is still under investigation.
