HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The City of Houston is preparing to pay tribute to our men and women in the military through its annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration.”
On Tuesday, the public is invited to join the festivities in downtown Houston.
It all starts with a traditional Veterans Day ceremony at 10 a.m. that will include acknowledgements and keynote speaker, Sgt. Major Angela Maness, U.S. Marine Corps, Retired.
In addition, expect a moment of silence in memory of the signing of the Armistice, which ended WWI.
The American Heroes Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Dallas and Bagby. It will proceed east on Dallas, north on Louisiana, west on Walker, south on Smith, west on Lamar, ending on Lamar at Bagby.
All are welcome along the parade route.
Be advised there will be street closures.
9 a.m. – Allen Parkway (inbound and outbound) between Taft and Bagby and Lamar north bike lane along Sam Houston Park
9:45 a.m. – Bagby between Clay and McKinney (McKinney off-ramp will remain open and will exit north on Bagby) and Bagby southbound closed at Walker
Additional curb lane closure for setup: 8 a.m. Monday, 11/10/25 through 5 p.m. Tuesday, 11/11/25, 400-500 McKinney (north curb lane) and 400-500 Walker (north and south curblane)

Texas has the largest veteran population in the nation with over 250,000 veterans in residence.
