Woman shot inside north Harris County apartment while sleeping describes moment it happened

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — On the outside of an apartment building on Chisholm Trail, bullet holes cover the windows and wall.

On the inside, a young woman is recovering after she said she was hit by one of those bullets early Saturday morning.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office told ABC13 deputies responded around 12:40 a.m. to 18204 Chisholm Trail. The caller stated a bullet hit a 25-year-old female in her arm.

Natalia Martinez said that was her.

“There were like a lot of gunshots,” Martinez said. “I was sleeping and I moved, and when I moved, I lifted my hand and they hit my… on my arm.”

The walls to her room are now covered with holes.

“I was calling my mom and I was like, ‘Mom, they hit me. They hit me.’ Then my dad went to my room immediately and then they brought me to the living room,” Martinez said.

The sheriff’s office said three suspects fired guns at an apartment located in the front building of the complex, then got into a black or dark colored SUV driven by another suspect and fled along Rankin Road.

Detectives said they’re interviewing people who live at this complex for any information on what led up to the shooting.

“We’re thinking about it like, ‘Who, who did it?’ Because we don’t know,” Martinez said.

While the physical damage to their apartment is extensive, Martinez said it’s nothing compared to the emotional and mental toll this is taking on her family.

“I hope they find them, honestly, because it’s a lot to process, especially for my family and for me too,” Martinez said.

The sheriff’s office said no other people were injured. They ask anyone with information to call their violent crime unit.
