Worthing High School student charged with aggravated assault after hitting another student with chair, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Sitting in the back of the room at her Harris County probable cause hearing, 18-year-old Victoire Ashley appears in a courtroom, accused of a crime for the first time in her life.

The high schooler is facing a felony charge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to court documents.

During Ashley’s probable cause hearing, Eyewitness News learned that around noon on Tuesday, she was in the cafeteria of Worthing High School in Sunnyside when a fight began.

“It is alleged that the complainant, who is 17, stated he was fighting with a 3rd party who was your brother,” the magistrate said.

The magistrate said Ashley stepped in by picking up several metal chairs and hit the 17-year-old fighting her brother in the back of the head several times.

“It is alleged the complainant lost consciousness, had no pulse, CPR was performed, and he was revived,” the magistrate said.

Ashley was arrested by Houston ISD police on Tuesday. On Wednesday, jail records show she posted her $75,000 bond. Bond conditions dictate that she must wear an ankle GPS device and have no contact with the victim.

ABC13 reached out to HISD about the incident, who responded with the following statement:

“On Tuesday, there was a fight between three students in the cafeteria at Worthing High School. During the altercation, one of the involved students was struck with a chair. The student was taken to a local hospital and has been released. Campus administration has been in communication with families.”
