HOUSTON (KTRK) — A driver beating on the car in front of him for driving too slow was shot in an act of alleged self-defense in north Houston, HPD says.
The Houston Police Department said it responded to a road rage incident around midnight on Saturday at the N. Main Street entrance ramp of I-45. When they arrived at the scene, HPD says they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound.
“The driver got upset that the vehicle in front of him wasn’t moving fast enough and he got out of his vehicle and started beating on his car,” Lt. Khan with the HPD said. The driver of the vehicle in front warned him that he had a gun and ended up shooting and striking him once, Lt. Khan added.
HPD says responding officers rendered aid to the victim before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is said to be stable.
Houston police confirm the shooter stayed at the scene and cooperated with responding officers. The shooter told the officers he was acting in self-defense and has not been charged, HPD says.
